Eat a big breakfast and get ready for your Kilimanjaro adventure! Leave Moshi/Arusha town by 8am and head to Lemosho Gate on the west side of the mountain. Don’t worry about a thing – Kilimanjaro And Safari Specialist will take care of everything before the hike starts. Then, you’re off! Trek through the lush green forests of Lemosho Glade and reach Big Tree Camp, where you’ll spend your first night under the watchful eye of Kilimanjaro.
The trail climbs steadily and emerges from the rainforest into heather and moorland zones. You cross valleys and ridges before reaching the expansive Shira Plateau. We can still have opportunity to see Black and white colubus monkeys jumping in the canopy layers of juniper and Hygenia trees dominating in the edges of the rainforest. Quickly after coming out from the forest you will enjoy viewing the beautiful landscape behind, walking for another three hours you will arrive in the camp and find everything sorted by the supporting team, then having hot lunch and rest.
Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
A gentle trek across the Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak. This is a short day to aid acclimatization. Instead of heading straight to the Shira two camp you can skip the path going to Shira camp two and then pass to Shira peak 3,872m/ 12703Ft amsl. (Cathedral Point). By doing this you will increase the chance of the body acclimatize because Shira Peak is higher than Shira two the camp you are going to overnight.
A key acclimatization day. You hike to Lava Tower (4,600m) where you have lunch
before descending to Barranco Camp. The climb-high, sleep-low principle helps your
body adjust to altitude again. This meaning a lots to your body, sometimes at Lava Tower you may feel nausea, vomiting and loose of appetite that is normal, some people feel it! Let take it easy because you are going to descend after hot lunch to Barranco which is 3,900m.
You tackle the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical climb with stunning
views. Then trek through ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp. The great Barrancco wall is 300 meters, so the top of Barranco wall are nice place to take photos if the weather is clear you can even have the nice landscape and the kibo closer. Before arriving to the Karanga camp you will cross the river nearby, that is the Karanga river which also known as last water point, no water after this point therefore the supporting team they will draw water here to use it also on the base camp “Barafu camp”.
A short but steep climb leads to Barafu Camp, the base camp for summit night. Rest
early and prepare for the midnight ascent. Here the guides will come to give you the last briefing after early dinner.
At midnight, begin the most challenging part of the trek. Climb via Stella Point (5,756m)
to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa (5,895m). After celebrations and photos,
descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
Final descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. This forest is more dense than Lemosho forest. After receiving your summit
certificate, transfer back to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha
